After years of closure, the recent opening to the public of Florence's Roster Tepidarium of Horticulture has been a great success. Approximately 3,000 locals have visited the trepidarium thanks to the recently launched initiative, A tea with Butterflies.
Through the event, visitors can have a cup of tea while watching some of the world's most beautiful butterfly species as they fly freely in the 19th-century trepidarium, the largest in Italy. The tepidarium will be open to the public until September 22, from 9:30am to 1pm and 3:30pm to 7pm.
From 7pm to 9pm at the Butterfly Bar, set up for the event in the gardens, visitors can sip on a cup of tea or on a glass of prosecco while immersed in one of the city's most enchanting places. The tepidarium is located on via Vittorio Emanuele 4. Parking is available at the Parterre car park. Reservations for groups and for private events can be made by calling 055/499334.
For a closer look at this fascinating species, butterfly lovers can also visit one of Italy's many WWF Oases in July. The WWF Italia offers visitors guided visits and special activities on the life of butterflies every weekend and on selected weekdays for the entire month of July. The Bosco Rocconi, Burano, Orti-Bottagone, and Orbetello WWF Oases in Tuscany have adhered to the initiative.
