The Florentine pressroom has been abuzz since last week when MacRae Bookstore displayed their bestselling English books in Florence. Those who don’t know the city and its Anglophone community might think the same old books would take the top spots—instead, the list proved full of surprises.
1. Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert
2. Italians Dance and I’m a Wallflower by Linda Falcone
3. Cosa Nostra by John Dickie
4. Eating & Drinking in Italy by Andy Herbach
5. Lucrezia Borgia by Sarah Bradford
6. Spaghetti
7. Catherine de Medici by Leonie Frieda
8. To Florence con Amore. 77 ways to love the city by Jane Fortune
9. Panini
10. La Bella Figura: A Field Guide to the Italian Mind by Beppe Severgnini
The Florentine Press was elated that not one, but two of our titles made the top ten list! Particularly exciting was seeing that Linda Falcone’s book is still the second best selling book in Florence one year after its publication. Get ready for a fight for number one when her newest book, If They Are Roses, hits shelves this summer.
We were also thrilled to see Jane Fortune’s unique “love letter” to Florence take the number eight spot. Special thanks go out to the readers who recognized Jane’s enormous passion for our city.
