Mini Street Fair at July 4th Picnic

In September 2007, Democrats Abroad and the US Consulate in Florence organized an event called the USA Street Fair. We invited volunteer associations, community groups, professionals, and businesses who either offered services to the English-speaking community in Florence or who were looking for English-speaking volunteers. Over 60 organizations were represented and were visited by approximately 3000 people the day of the fair. It was a great community event and really served both the organizations and the public.

This year Democrats Abroad is helping to organize the 4th of July Picnic along with the Consulate and the Tuscan-American Association. We thought it would be a good opportunity to organize a smaller version of the street fair for people attending the picnic.

The picnic will be held at the Villa Demidoff in Pratolino and goes from 5pm till midnight on Saturday, July 4th. As always, there is live music on stage, a kiddie corner, games, and food; this has become a real tradition in Florence. The event usually brings several thousand visitors. The 4th of July Street Fair will begin at 5pm and go on till 9pm. While there is a nominal charge to non-profit organizations, businesses are being asked to contribute 150 euros for a table.
